Done deals:

• Birchall Blackburn has purchased rival law firm Ward Dewhurst

• Scott Wilson Group Plc, an international design and engineering consultancy, has acquired Benaim Enterprise, a Mauritius-based civil, structural and geotechnical consultancy, for £5.5 million

• The management at software company SSP Holdings has bought the company for £162 million and taken the company private

• Finch Commercial Insurance Brokers, backed by NatWest, has acquired BIAB, trading as Ashcombe Border Insurance Brokers

• Stone Technical Services has bought EP Services in order to bolster its restoration and maintenance services of historical sites

• IT consultant Bestoutcome has purchased ISA, a supplier of business software applications

Deals in the pipeline:

• The chief executive of Belfast camera-supplier Andor Technology is preparing to lead a management buy-out at the firm, according to local reports

• Diversified investor Drury Lane Capital Plc has agreed to buy clinical support software provider Adastra Software for £12.2 million, constituting a reverse takeover

• Icomera, a Swedish supplier of Internet connectivity to trains, is set to acquire Moovera Networks, a manufacturer of fixed and mobile communications systems

• Aberystwyth University’s Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences is to receive £23.5 million from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales
