Bob Martin tames Seven Seas

Done deals: 

  • Intertek, a provider of quality and safety services, has bought US company HP White Laboratory, a personal protective equipment testing specialist, for an initial £20 million 
     
  • Industrial chains manufacturer Renold has bought 75 per cent of Indian group LG Balakrishnan & Bros for an undisclosed sum 
     
  • Investment company Ninety Plc has completed the acquisition of rival firm Honour Field for as much as £15 million 
     
  • Schroders has received regulatory approval for its acquisition of E Sun Securities Investment Trust in Taiwan for some £8.8 million in cash 
     
  • Manchester’s water additives business BWA has been sold by private equity firm Close Brothers to Bahrain-based United International Bank for £100 million 

  • Entrepreneurs Kate Little and John Cavanagh have spent an undisclosed six-figure sum on buying Edinburgh-based media company Channel 6 

In the pipeline: 

  • Engineering specialist Redhall Group is to expand its oil and gas services operations after tabling an £18.6 million cash bid for Chieftain 
     
  • Equity Special Situations has agreed to buy 41 per cent of TransSend, the pre-paid card division of Conister Financial, as part of its strategy to invest in financial services businesses
