- Carpet and floor coverings retailer Carpetright has bought Melford Commercial Properties for £7.2 million cash assuming debt of £7.8 million, and is set to buy Dutch company Ben de Graaff Tapijt for some €8 million (£6.3 million). The acquisitions complement its existing operations and adds curtains and window blinds to its offering
- Morgan Crucible Company plc has bought Certech and Carpenter Advanced Ceramics from Carpenter Technology Corporation, for $145 million (£73.4 million)
- Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group plc has acquired Sertus Underwriting of Ireland

- Swinton Business, the commercial division of insurance firm Swinton Group, has acquired the independent broker Lawrences to strengthen its commercial offering

- Filtration and environmental technology company Porvair plc has acquired Toolturn Engineering for £1 million
- Industrial services group Brammer plc has purchased CBS Rotary Power Motion for up to £9.5 million, in a move to bolster its offering
- Asbestos removal company Rhodar has bought Irish rival DJV Insulations

- Non life run-off consolidator Tawa plc is set to acquire PXRE Reinsurance company
- Commercial radio group Global Radio is to buy commercial radio group GCap Media, which owns Classic FM, for £375 million
