Today's deal headlines

Done deals:

Belfast-based building services firm Rotary has bought the Hastie Group of Australia for some £100 million, raising its annual turnover to about £700 million

3Bill, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UK-based Symbios Group, which develops software applications for the internet and mobile phones, has acquired Profile Heaven, a social networking platform aimed at young people

Beringea has backed the £7 million management buyout of Path Group through its ProVen VCT and ProVen Growth and Income VCT funds

Catapult Venture has led a £680,000 investment in Kappler, a manufacturer and supplier of chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear protective clothing

Road handling equipment supplier Hiab has bought two firms to bolster its services - DEL Equipment based in the UK and Ultron Lift Corporation of Toronto, Canada

Deals in the pipeline:

Hospitality and leisure group Whitbread plc is to merge its budget hotels and pub restaurants for a one-off cost of £35 million

Woolworths has been tipped to outbid fellow grocery retailer Foodstuffs for New Zealand-based general retailer The Warehouse
