Charlton & Jenrick fired up for deal success

Heating products manufacturer Charlton & Jenrick has acquired a Manchester-based fireplace supplier Fireline UK for an undisclosed sum.

The Telford-headquartered acquirer was backed by £4 million from asset-based lender Enterprise Finance Europe (EFE). The firm’s last purchase was in 2002 when it bought Durham-based wood fireplace manufacturer Katell.

Charlton & Jenrick, established 1986, has a turnover of £12 million, with expected sales next year of £13 million. Founder Bill Jenrick said: “The deal will create significant synergies but there is currently very little overlap in the two companies. It means we can now provide a one-stop shop offering the complete range of products.”

Jeremy Carr and Nathalie Blake of Manchester accountants Ford Campbell and Jamie Lloyd of Nexus solicitors advised the acquiring management team. Jonathan Edwards and Sara Levy of Hammonds provided legal advice to EFE.
