Vindon buys Westech
Vindon Scientific, a manufacturer of specialist storage facilities, has acquired US distributor Westech Instruments for up to £180,000.
Westech originally focused on distributing equipment for pharmaceutical inhalers, but since 1996 the company has distributed Vindon's storage products in the US. During this period, the inhaler business has been reduced and the distribution agreement with Vindon has become a major part of the company's operations. The Georgia-based company generated pre-tax profits of $52,000 (£32,000) in the six months to December 2009.
Liam Ferguson, chairman of Vindon Healthcare, said that the acquisition of Westech provides the company with an opportunity to develop its operations in the US market.
In the six months ending June 2009, Vindon reported turnover of £2.6 million and pre-tax profits of £497,000.
