JLT acquires HACL
Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT), an employee benefits consultancy, has acquired HSBC Actuaries and Consultants (HACL) for £27.25 million in cash.
HACL is an employee benefits and actuarial consulting firm and employs 440 staff. The firm generated revenue of £40.1 million and operating profit of £2.8 million in 2008.
Dominic Burke, chief executive of JLT, said that the deal fits in with the company's strategy of bolt-on acquisitions and creates opportunities for growth and improved financial performance.
JLT reported an increase in revenue of 16 per cent to £309.7 million in the six months ending June, while pre-tax profits were up by 15 per cent to £61.3 million.
