Vertu buys Brooklyn
Vertu Motors Plc, a Newcastle-based car retailer, has acquired assets from Worcestershire-based rival Brooklyn Motor Plc for up to £9 million.
The acquisition includes the freehold properties and operations of Worcester Ford, Redditch Ford, Cheltenham Mazda and Redditch Mazda. Brooklyn Motor went into receivership in June.
Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu, said: "There is considerable scope to integrate these dealerships onto Vertu's scalable platform, and these are excellent volume franchises that strengthen the Group's portfolio balance."
In the 12 months to February 2009, Vertu reported revenues of £760.8 million and pre-tax profits of £70,000.
