Stardoll merges with Piczo
US teen social networking websites Stardoll and Piczo have merged. The details of the deal remain undisclosed.
Stardoll was established in Sweden in 2003 and generates revenues by selling virtual clothes for dolls. The acquisition forms part of Stardoll’s strategy to increase its European presence. The website now has over 21 million members worldwide.
Piczo enables users to customise their own web pages and has some 30 million users. Jim Conning, founder of Piczo, said: “Joining the Stardoll Network is a great way for Piczo to continue to grow and offer both a unique product for the teen audience and an even more valuable proposition for advertisers seeking to reach that audience.”
