Bunzl tools up with A&E Russell
Bunzl, an international distribution and outsourcing group, has acquired A&E Russell, a long-standing Glasgow tool and equipment supplier. Bunzl bought the family business, which turns over £21 million and has estimated assets of some £10 million, for undisclosed terms.
The A&E Russell deal is a bolt-on acquisition to Greenham, which also supplies a wide range of personal protective equipment and site tools. Bunzl bought Greenham from construction and facilities management services provider Taylor Woodrow in 2000 for £76 million.
Michael Roney, Bunzl chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the well established business with an excellent reputation and a strong customer focus. It will complement Greenham and further our position in the UK.”
The Glasgow company has Barr, Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Dumfries & Galloway Council and Persimmon Homes on its client roster.
The deal comes on the back of the acquisition of Worldpack Trading, a Dutch distributor of promotional packaging products with assets estimated at £5.5 million, earlier this month.
