Butters Group secures funding
Plant retailer Butters Group has received an undisclosed investment from London-based private equity firm Advantage Capital.
The funding will be used to continue developing Butters and increase its product range. Advantage Capital was led by its founders Martin Bodenham and Trevor Jones.
Butters specialises in supplying house and garden plants to large retail chains such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco and B&Q. Founded in 1973, it employs about 600 people and generates revenues of £40 million.
Based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, the company has doubled its size during the last five years. Its management believes the company can double again in the next five years.
DLA Piper advised Advantage Capital and Browne Jacobson represented Butters.
