BSS acquires UGS
BSS Group, a distributor of equipment to specialist trades, has acquired Oxfordshire-based UGS for £5.1 million.
UGS supplies civil engineering and drainage equipment from ten offices across the country and generated revenue of £36.4 million in 2009. The deal comes after BSS acquired Direct Heating Spares, a distributor of spare parts to the heating industry, for £5.7 million last year.
Gavin Slark, chief executive for BSS Group, says that there is growth potential in the drainage and water management market as infrastructure is being maintained and upgraded.
In the six months ending September 2009, BSS reported a fall in turnover of 5 per cent to £650.6 million, while pre-tax profits dropped 30 per cent to £23.3 million.
