AMEC buys Arcas
International engineering and project management group AMEC Plc has acquired Canada-based Arcas Consulting Archeologists for £300,000 in cash.
Founded in 1981, Arcas is a 20-strong archaeological consulting company in British Columbia. The company provides a full range of archaeological consulting services to government agencies and the private sector in Western Canada.
The acquisition is consistent with AMEC's strategy of expanding its Earth and Environmental division and follows 11 other acquisitions in this division since January 2007.
AMEC reported pre-tax profits of £306.6 million in 2008.
