Belfast logistics company TR Group has acquired the logistics and warehousing operations of Rotterdam-based BG Freight Line, part of Peel Ports UK. The details of the deal were not disclosed.

The BG operation has been integrated within Tracco BV, the existing TR Logistics subsidiary in Rotterdam, and doubles its warehousing resources to 50,000 sq ft.

TR Group managing director Tommy Rodgers said: “This is a significant strategic development which strengthens our position in Rotterdam, Europe’s biggest distribution hub, and enables us to offer enhanced services to customers in Northern Ireland and from other markets.”

The deal is an important part of the company’s expansion plans. “We expect the investment to make a significant difference to our international operations and to double turnover during 2009. This will build on the 25 per cent growth over the past year,” Rodgers added.
