Deal Round-up (26.09.2008)
In today's headlines Transaction Wireless, a mobile infrastructure company, has secured funding of $2.2 million, while media mogul Haim Saban has topped up his stake in Bezeq Israel Telecom.
• Marketing Agency AMP, a marketing agency has announced the acquisition of Fulgent Media Group, a media agency providing strategic advice for emerging digital media platform companies. The deal amount was undisclosed
• Transaction Wireless, a mobile infrastructure, commerce and marketing company, has secured $2.2 million (£1.2 million) in funding from Mission Ventures and Okapi Ventures
• Brick Mountain Trucking has bought All Mighty Services, a New York-based provider of local pick-up and delivery services for undisclosed terms
• MacroGenics, a privately held biotechnology company that develops therapies to treat autoimmune disorders, cancer and infectious diseases, has raised $25 million (£13.6 million) worth of funding from Nextech Venture
• Ascribe has acquired WCI Consulting’s healthcare division for £650,000, with a further £300,000 deferred consideration to be paid in 12 months subject to performance
• Nordic telecom operator TeliaSonera has taken stakes in operators in Nepal and Cambodia for around $488 million (£265.4 million). The company has bought a 51 per cent stake in TeliaSonera Asia Holding from Kazakhstan's Visor Group, and the entire share holding of Cambodia's Applifone
• A group led by media mogul Haim Saban and private equity firm Apax Partners has acquired an additional 10.66 per cent of Bezeq Israel Telecom for $318 million (£173 million)
• The Arctic Paper group has acquired Grycksbo Paper, a paper mill in the Dalecarlia region of Sweden. The terms of the deal have not been revealed
• Nord Holding Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft has taken a majority holding in IGEL Technology as part of a management buyout from parent company the Melchers Group
• Water Street Healthcare Partners has completed its acquisition of a 69 per cent stake in CareCentrix, the care management business of Gentiva Health Services. The transaction was valued at approximately $147 million (£80 million)
In the pipeline
• MediCult, an Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) company, has announced that it plans to acquire MidAtlantic Diagnostics, a US supplier of ART products, for $15.5 million (£8.4 million)
• The shareholders of Wm Wrigley have voted in favour of the group's proposed merger with Mars
• Machinery maker Avery India has said its parent company had agreed to sell its 58.28 percent stake in the firm to ITW Global Investments, resulting in a change in control
