In today’s deal headlines marketing and communications group WPP plc has bought a minority stake in China-based HDT Holdings, and management consultancy Capital Ideas plc looks set to acquire part of Charterhouse Communications Group.

Done deals:

Aurora Russia, a Guernsey-based investor in small to mid-sized companies in Russia, has bought Volzhski Universalny Bank for £6.4 million

WPP Digital, the digital investment arm of marketing and communications group WPP plc, has acquired a minority interest in HDT Holdings Technologies, a China-based online media advertising and technology company

Mid-market private equity firm Primary Capital has acquired Bedford-based toiletry maker Pacific Direct for £20 million, backed by HSBC (Source: Thomson)

Deals in the pipeline:

Management consultancy to high tech firms, Capital Ideas plc, has agreed to purchase certain assets from publishing company Charterhouse Communications Group for £229,125, on behalf of its subsidiary Capital Ideas Financial Publishing

Savings and insurance company Legal & General is set to acquire part of engineering company Smiths Group plc’s pension scheme, reported to be worth some £250 million (Source: telegraph.co.uk)
