Brothers snap up recycling firm Glazewing

The brothers who sold municipal services company Verdant to Greenstar last year have returned to the waste industry after buying Glazewing.

Jon and Simon Miles, through their Valens Resources business, bought the metal recycler for an undisclosed sum.

Glazewing was sold by founder Malcolm Grief, who retires following the completion of the deal. Members of his family remain with the company.

The Miles’ legal adviser was Jonathan Grant of DMH Stallard, who was supported by Mandy Yin.

Grant, who also worked on the deal with the firm’s planning and environment and banking and finance teams, said the deal builds on the brothers’ experience in the waste management sector.

“It was essential that the brothers’ influence could be combined with the experience of the existing management team,” Grant said. “Key issues included property and security issues over the site, given the required transition from a property owned and used by a family business, into an arms length arrangement.”

DMH Stallard is one of the country’s leading law firms with 55 partners and around 280 staff. With offices in London, Gatwick and Brighton we act for clients nationally and internationally.
