Rock solid deal for Stone
An IT specialist is to extend its range of premium products to its public sector clients after buying a laptop manufacturer.
Stone Group, which supplies schools, further education institutions and the emergency services, has bought Rock Computers.
The group acquired the Staffordshire-based business from its administrator for an undisclosed sum.
Stone chief executive James Bird said the group will now be able to provide specialist laptops to meet demand. “This transaction is part of our continued growth strategy, where selective acquisitions complement and enhance our existing business.”
Former Rock chief executive Nick Boardman joins Stone’s board as director of its mobile technology division. He said the deal gives Rock a strong financial base from which to develop its products.
Stone will continue to sell machines under the Rock brand and provide ongoing warranty support for its customers. It will also back the development of the acquired company’s gaming operations.
