Cityspace announces Kizoom acquisition
A transport information company is to develop new products to support public transport users after buying one of its rivals.
Cityspace, a broadcaster of travel information and services through screens and terminals, has paid an undisclosed sum to add Kizoom to its business.
Kizoom, a provider of real-time transport information to mobile devices and the Internet, expands Cityspace’s products and services and is part of a plan to grow the company.
The deal strengthens Cityspace’s expertise in developing products that travellers can access through their mobile phones, BlackBerries or wireless computers.
Cityspace and Kizoom have worked together on several projects, including a mobile phone timetable information service for National Express’ east coast rail network.
Kizoom was established in 1999 to develop and operate software for mobile phone companies and public transport organisations, such as Transport for London, National Rail Enquiries and the Department for Transport.
Cityspace installs terminals in city centres and transport hubs that provide bus and train traffic information and journey planning services as well as selling tickets.
