Done deals:

• Scalable Software, a supplier of IT value-management products with offices in Surrey and the US, has undergone a management buy-out

• Land Energy, a North Yorkshire-based alternative energy company, has secured a £5 million investment from Foresight Group to fund the development of its wood pellet production plants

• Accountant Bentley Jennison has acquired Chancery Group, a Northampton-based independent financial advisory firm

• RCG Holdings, a provider of biometric and radio frequency identification security services, has increased its stake in Singapore-based Vast Base Technology up to 60 per cent, for HK$410.2 million (£27.0 million)

Deals in the pipeline:

• Vodafone has agreed to acquire ZYB, a Danish operator of a social networking and online management tool for mobile phone users, for €31.5 million (£25 million)

• The Innovation Group plc, a provider of outsourcing and software services to insurance companies, has agreed to acquire NSN Holdings for up to £1.1 million. A deferred sum of £5.75 million is available up until October 2012, dependent on performance at NSN

• Mediasurface plc, a web content software developer, has made a recommended £18.1 million offer to buy marketing software company Alterian plc

• Block Shield Corporation plc, a provider of electronic components and processes, has agreed to acquire US-based Mu-Gahat Holdings in order to increase its offering

• Newcastle Computer Services, a pre-press software supplier that trades as Turning Point Innovations, has gone into administration through Grant Thornton

• Balfour Beatty is to raise £180 million in a share placing to fund acquisitions and organic growth for its building and civil engineering business

• BS Construction, the Manchester-based building division of BSC Group, has gone into administration through KPMG
