Done deals:

  • Dytecna has acquired GEL Engineering, in order to expand its defence systems division

  • PowerKut has acquired AJ Mare Instruments of Birmingham for undisclosed terms, in order to gain a new depot in Perry Barr for its component manufacture and verification business

  • Watson Burton has merged with rival law firm Trevor Robinson & Co

  • ECI Partners, a mid-market private equity firm, has taken majority control of online media company i-level Group

  • Coal supplier Coal4Energy has acquired 85.2 per cent in smokeless fuel company Maxibrite, for £4.7 million

  • Software and computer services company Axon plc has acquired oil & gas consultancy EnterSys Group, in a bid to increase its presence in North America

  • Venture capital investor Yorkshire and Humber Equity Fund has invested £250,000 in GO-SIM, a supplier of pre-pay mobile phone sim cards

  • Hampson Industries plc, an aerospace and precision engineering group, has agreed to acquire Odyssey Industries and Global Tooling Systems of the US for up to $25 million (£12.6 million)


Deals in the pipeline:

 

  • North Midland Construction plc has agreed to purchase the rest of North Midland Building for £1.7 million in cash, taking its ownership from 85 per cent to 100 per cent

  • Elementis is to acquire Deuchem, the Taiwan-based supplier of additives and resins, for £40 million

  • Imagine Communications Group, a portfolio company of European venture capital firm DFJ Esprit, has agreed to buy Internet service provider Irish Broadband

  • KMC, a recruitment firm with offices in Cardiff and London, is to go into administration through Grant Thornton

  • Sound Control has gone into administration through Deloitte, with the closure of ten of its 26 musical instrument stores
