Today's deal headlines

Done deals:

  • Engineering and project management company AMEC plc has bought Rider Hunt International for £25 million cash, expanding its portfolio

  • Newspaper publisher and printer Trinity Mirror plc has bought Rippleffect Studio, an online web design and development company, for up to £5.8 million

  • Building services group Northern Bear plc has acquired forklift truck supplier Al Industrial Trucks and plumbing, heating and mechanical services company D J McGough for up to £6.7 million

  • Electronic components supplier TT electronics plc has bought a systems supplier to the aerospace and defence industry NCE for up to £5.2 million

  • Industrial engineer Fenner plc has acquired New Mexico-based King Energy for $5.7 million (£2.9 million), a provider of support services to the oil, gas and mining sector

  • Equipment rental specialist Vp plc has purchased UM including its subsidiary U Mole for £4.5 million, complementing its offering

  • Chemetall plc has bought NDT from Ely Chemical Company, in order to strengthen its offering in surface treatment technologies


Deals in the pipeline:

 

  • Centrica plc, a provider of gas, electricity and energy related products and services, has agreed to buy US-based Strategic Energy for $300 million (£151.3 million)

  • Hitchens plc, a diversified branded goods retailer, is set to acquire outsourcing services to retail suppliers, Wallgate, for £8.8 million. The company has also bought Flarepilot plc for an undisclosed sum

  • Mining explorer and developer Jubilee Platinum plc is set to increase its stake in the Tjate project in South Africa to 58.5 per cent
