Done deals:

• Hotel and resorts group JJW has acquired hotel chain Eton Collection for £70 million

• Media firm Emap has acquired market research company Planet Retail for £23 million

• Music and media company MAMA Group plc has acquired six music venues in London from Mean Fiddler, for £6 million

• Peters Opal has gone into administration through KPMG with the loss of 130 jobs at its luxury boat dealership

• Halliwell Jones Group has acquired Premier Cars for £6.7 million, expanding its car dealership chain

• Publishing company Guardian News & Media has acquired publishing and events company Kable for undisclosed terms

• The holding company for the Esporta chain of 54 health clubs, Bell Leisure, has gone into administration through Grant Thornton

• Hawkshead has been bought out of administration by Regatta, adding 20 stores to its outdoor clothing chain and securing 180 jobs

• Marine brokerage Mills Marine has undergone a management buy-out for undisclosed terms

Deals in the pipeline:

• Co-operative Group is seeking a buyer for eight food stores in order to win regulatory approval for its proposed merger with United Co-operatives

• Japanese polypropylene chemical manufacturer Sumitomo is to acquire the Asahi Kasei Chemicals PP compounding plant, AK & K, which is based in Havant, near Portsmouth, for an undisclosed sum

• The BBC is looking to sell its BBC Resources division, which includes outside broadcast facilities, post-production suites and 1,100 staff, for an undisclosed sum

• Universal Music Group is to acquire record label V2 Music Group from Virgin for about £7 million
