• Power station builder NEL Power has been bought by one of its competitors. Carron Energy acquired the company from its administrator for an undisclosed sum

• Meat supplier Underwood Meat has bought butchery business Northern Catering. The terms of the firm’s second acquisition this month have not been disclosed

• Pension regulator Butler & Tanner has bought colour printing firm Media & Print Investments for an undisclosed sum, saving 500 jobs

• Celtic has expanded its Irish betting chain with the purchase of Ubet of Limerick for €2.5 million (£1.7 million)

• Inflexion Private Equity has re-financed blended cheese producer llchester Cheese by providing £5 million of debt and working capital

• The Bank of Scotland Corporate has invested an undisclosed amount in property services provider Apollo

• Sports club operator Premier Sports Holdings plans to launch an IPO on AIM later this month, raising an undisclosed amount
