Infinis, a renewable energy provider, has acquired bio-crop producer Scottish BioFuel for an undisclosed sum.

The firm has been acquired from its parent company Scottish Resources Group, which is primarily a coal mining business.

Post-deal completion, Infinis intends to develop in excess of 125MW biomass power generation assets and more than 125MW of wind farms in Cental Scotland, subject to planning and regulatory approvals.

Climate Change Capital, an environmental investment banking group specialised in clean fuel and low-carbon investments, provided financial advice throughout the deal.

Scottish BioFuel is developing a supply chain of biomass crop in Scotland. The acquisition is aimed at increasing Infinis’ secure sustainable sources of biomass feedstock to proposed power plants.

Infinis expects that the proposed wind and biomass projects will be able to generate 1,250 GWh of renewable electricity.
