Hawthorn Theatrical, a provider of stage equipment, has bought London-based rival Core Creative for an undisclosed sum from events management firm The Concerto Group.

Duncan & Toplis, led by James Green, resident partner at its Melton Mowbray office, was financial adviser to Hawthorn. Its team helped prepare the business plan and provided strategic tax planning advice. The firm has advised Hawthorn on its development and growth during the last 20 years.

The deal gives Hawthorn – which is based in Old Dalby, Leicestershire – a £9 million turnover and has increased its staff to 87. Managing director of the company Martin Hawthorn said: “Having an established base in London provides another resource to the London customer as we continue to grow and grow.”
