Duo buys ID Support Services
Senior management at a Manchester-based electronic security and climate control systems provider are to develop and expand the business after buying the company.
ID Support Services, which serves companies across a range of industries in the public and private sectors, was bought for an undisclosed sum.
The buy-out team was headed by chairman Brian Dunn and managing director David Metcalfe. The duo hope to grow the business by taking advantage of changes to the gaming industry and environmental legislation that is forcing companies to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs.
Dunn and Metcalfe appointed Grant Thornton Corporate Finance to project manage the deal. One of the firm’s responsibilities was to secure the funding needed to support the buy-out.
Grant Thornton selected Aberdeen Asset Managers Growth Capital as the preferred bidder supported by The Royal Bank of Scotland, which provided debt. Aberdeen’s investment was led by its Northern-based Growth Capital team comprising Andrew Craig, Ryan Bevington and Jonty Hall.
ID Support has more than 100 employees operating through two divisions: ID Technology Group, a CCTV, access control and electronic article surveillance provider; and GK Industrial, which installs and maintains air conditioning, ventilation, heating and refrigeration systems.
In the 10 months to the end of June last year, the group reported an operating profit of more than £500,000 from an £8.2 million turnover by serving companies in the retail, gaming, leisure, commercial and industrial sectors.
No one at the company was available to comment.
